Not only did walls crumble during the quake but much of the classroom furniture, doors and windows in two of our supported schools were damaged. No worries, our talented IDEA shop DEAF STAFF just have to make new ones. It is amazing though to see Walter working on repairing the classroom doors knowing he is both deaf and blind. He is just one team member of our staff. His specialty is sanding things before they are painted. This makes one wonder at the use of the term “DISABLED” to describe a person. IDEA takes pride in “Enabling” people.
